Stuart Mack is an international award winning trumpet player, composer, and educator based in New York City. Since moving to NYC in 2016, Mack has toured across the world and played with notable groups such as the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Jihye Lee Orchestra, Darcy James Secret Society, Fluer Suele, The David Liebman Big Band, Anat Cohen Nonet, Dan Pugach Nonet, Sam Blakeslee Large Group, Scott Reeves Jazz Orchestra, Ny Afro-Bop Alliance Big Band, Anat Cohen Tentet, Manuel Valera New Cuban Express Big Band, Eyal Vilner Big Band, Mike Holober, and Remy Le Boeuf’s Assembly of Shadows. Along with touring, Mack has performed in many different situations including subbing in Broadway pit orchestras, playing in a week long run at Jazz at Lincoln Center with Brazilian guitarist, Romero Lubambo, performing at Lincoln Center with the vocal group, Duchess, as a collaboration with the Paul Taylor Dance Company, and has also received a masters degree from Manhattan School of Music. Stuart can be heard on the grammy nominated album “Bianca Reimagined” by Dan Pugach, “Infinite Connections” by Jihye Lee, “This Rock We’re On” by Mike Holober, “Or” by The Tracy Yang Jazz Orchestra, as well as the rendition of the Star Spangled Banner recorded by H.E.R. for the 2024 closing Olympics ceremony. You can also hear Stuart on his 2024 debut album release “Vibrations”.
Having played music for over twenty years, Mack has received high honors such as: being a featured soloist with singer Josh Groban on his "Stages" tour, winning first place in the International Trumpet Guild Jazz competition, placing 2nd in the National Trumpet Competition (Jazz Division), being a finalist for the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Competition, being selected to compete in the Keep An Eye International Jazz Award in Amsterdam, NE, and being recognized as a Yamaha Young Performing Artist. As well, Mack has acted as the guest artist for various festivals and colleges including the Bryce Luty Jazz Festival (Hutchinson, KS), Bradley University Jazz Band (Peoria, IL), The Texas All-Stars Jazz Camp (Plano, TX) and Illinois Valley Central Community College Jazz Band (Olgsbey, IL).
Prior to moving to NYC, Mack attended University of North Texas’s legendary jazz studies program. While there, Mack played in the six-time grammy-nominated One O’Clock Lab Band for two years. Through the One O’Clock, Mack was able to travel to and headline events such as the Next Generation Jazz Festival (Monterey, California), the 2014 Jazz Education Network Conference (Dallas, Texas), as well as the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament (Palm Springs, California). Mack can be heard as a member and a featured soloist on Lab 2013 and Lab 2014.
Beyond maintaining a busy performing schedule during the evenings, Mack keeps his daytime filled as an educator. Mack has run masterclasses and clinics at universities and high schools across the country and currently runs his own private studio. Mack teaches live lessons to students in the NYC area and online lessons to students across the world. As well, Mack is currently on faculty at the New York Jazz Academy and is also a teaching artist for the New York Pops.
